Summer is here!

The school year may have ended, but Fund My Future is still going strong.

Don’t forget to make your summer deposits!

Your child can participate in saving for their future. Take your child to the bank and let them make their deposits.

When you teach children about money management, they will be able to manage their finances as they become adults.

Saver Spotlight

Sheree Thompson is saving for all five of her grandchildren and her great niece. The Hill District resident grew up in a household where savings seemed unrealistic but, with the help of Fund My Future, Sheree is determined to change that narrative for her grandchildren.

We asked Sheree why she would recommend Fund My Future to other families, she simply replied: “Why not?!” Sheree said, creating a fun, new savings experience for her grandchildren makes her feel empowered about their financial future.

FMF Celebrates with Propel

Meet Demi Kolke

Demi Kolke is the new Senior Program Manager of Corridor Revitalization for Neighborhood Allies. She enrolled in Fund My Future when her 1-year-old daughter Journey was an infant. After making her December deposit, Demi won a $50 prize and said that she feels motivated to continue saving every month. “There’s no losing with Fund My Future. You win free money, create a culture of saving in the home for the child’s long-term goals, and change the community mindset around saving and financial literacy,” said Demi.

We are proud to have Demi Kolke and Journey as Fund My Future participants and advocates.

Fund My Future Winner Recognition Dinner

On May 29th, we held our First Annual Winner Recognition Dinner. This was a night where participating families, community partners, funding partners, banking partners, volunteers, and staff came together to recognize participants for their saving efforts. Guests heard from Demi Kolke as a parent representative, and we also heard from Second Lady of Pennsylvania, Gisele Baretto Fetterman on saving for the future.

Congratulations again to all of our winners!

Winner Spotlight

Congratulations to Mary Hester, Fund My Future’s $2,000 winner of our double prize promotion in March! As a member of the Hill District Federal Credit Union, Mary received a postcard in the mail, prompting her to enroll her daughter, Mariyah. With college in Mariyah’s near future, Mary plans to save money to help with college expenses.

Kiara Brown, mother of 2-year-old Aria, is a TWO-time Fund My Future winner. After enrolling at a Children’s Sickle Cell event, Kiara feels more motivated and feels as though saving is more attainable for her and her daughter. She and Aria get excited about putting loose change into Aria’s piggy bank and they use that money for monthly deposits. Kiara stated, “I love the opportunity to potentially benefit for my daughter, for something I feel like I should be naturally doing; it’s a great motivator and confidence booster.”
